End-of-Summer HVAC Servicing — Why It's Important & Where to Start

As a homeowner, you’re probably told many things about how to best maintain your house. From types of cleaning solutions to brands of appliances to install, it’s likely that you receive recommendations (whether solicited or not!) on what you should be doing quite often.

With a new season on the horizon, experts say that your heating and cooling system should be serviced by a professional up to two times per year — ideally at the end of spring, and in the fall. It makes sense, right? No one wants their system to give out in the middle of a heat wave, just as it wouldn’t be so great to be without heat during a blizzard.

The National Energy Improvement Fund (NEIF) is here to pass along yet another tip for homeowners: get ahead of the curve!

Coming off the hot summer months — what is widely recognized as a busy season for contractors specializing in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) services — the next several to follow are, conversely, known to be much slower in terms of business, according to an article released by the Service Business Odyssey.

As a result, homeowners are presented with ample opportunities to schedule servicing appointments that will 1) ensure that their systems are prepared for the cool months to follow, and subsequently 2) avoid potential — greater — damage at a less-than-ideal time.

Additionally, regular HVAC maintenance promotes not only the longevity of your system, but also increases efficiency. An integral part of NEIF’s mission is to support homeowners as they make choices to affordably upgrade the efficiency of their homes, ultimately helping them save money and energy along the way.

And just one way that the organization empowers its customers to do so is by providing a network of capable, quality contractors to work with!

NEIF-Approved Contractors meet high standards for customer service, integrity, and financial stability — all factors that help create meaningful and trustworthy relationships with customers. Contractors vetted through NEIF are also authorized to offer their customers financing options through NEIF’s residential financing programs.

As you start to make and add to your fall maintenance to-do list, consider adding an HVAC servicing appointment with an NEIF-Approved Contractor. Your household — and the environment — will thank you!
